My Dog Swallowed Something

It was quite the morning on Sunday, planned on having a nice relaxing morning, then a craft show, followed by dinner with my parents. Instead it turned into a bulldog fiasco.

I was vacuuming while my husband and kids ate breakfast, my husband decided to give the dogs a toy, which I had taken away because they had been fighting over it.

This is the toy in question

Anyway, I finish vacuuming and come back into the kitchen and my husband asks me if the dogs got the cover off the toy. I’m like “I don’t know I was vacuuming!” Fast forward 20 minutes of frantic searching by all of us to come up empty. Can’t find it ANYWHERE.

These are the culprits!

So, I did what any normal person would do, I googled “How to make a dog throw up.” (https://bit.ly/2Vln5Bp) So, I scroll through and start reading but find out it can be dangerous to induce vomiting in brachycephalic breeds, like a bulldog, (https://bit.ly/2HU2mNn) so now what.

I head to a Facebook group I am part of for bulldog owners, I post my problem and get lots of sympathy and similar stories (I’m sure some of you have some too right? You can share below.) Basically I’m told to wait and watch. So, that’s what we’re doing, waiting and watching. Following around two bulldogs waiting to see if some fabric comes out.

The joys of pet ownership.

If It’s Too Good To Be True…

How does that saying go “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”

There are many times in life we come across things that just seem too good to be true. Recently I was looking to upgrade my phone, I have been with Bell for years so I thought let’s see what they can do. Well I could get an iPhone 8 with 3 gigs for $100/month. I went next door to Rogers and I could get an iPhone 10 with 5 gigs PLUS a free tablet with an unlimited line for the same price plus they would give me a corporate rate. Walked back to Bell to see what they would do. The employee told me “well I’d go with them, we can’t do anything like that. But what’s the catch, is the tablet really free?”

So after, 7+ years with Bell, I said “Bye-Bye” and I’m now with Rogers. I lucked out because it was a Black Friday deal, but Bell wasn’t doing anything to keep me as a customer.

So it ended well for me, but with so many ads popping up on our Facebook feeds, on Instagram it can be hard not to fall for some “great” deals. https://www.wish.com/ is notorious for having ads with amazing deals and what people receive is totally different. I’m not going to lie, I’ve had some laughs at other people’s misfortune.

My sister fell for a “great” deal. She ordered 4 bathing suits online, and they fit a child. I often tell her to review these websites before purchasing but apparently she needed to learn the hard way.

I do love to shop online, and so far I have been fortunate to have had great luck with items, usually because I stick to Amazon.

Have you fallen for a “great” deal? What was it?

Sit! Stay! Fetch…That Cash

I LOVE animals. Dogs are especially my favourite. About a year ago I went through my Instagram account and unfollowed anyone who wasn’t a close friend or an animal. I did this because if I’m having a bad day all I have to do is open Instagram and there is an adorable animal waiting to cheer me up. I follow mostly dogs, but the occasional guinea pig and animal rescue are sprinkled in.

While following some of them I began realizing that their owners are pushing different products and merchandise. It got me thinking “what are these pet influencers making and how can I get on board?”

After some searching I found that pet influencers can make as much as $15,000 per post! Of course it all depends on how many followers they have. I have some growing in that category – currently sitting under 300.

So I’ll continue to follow animals and get some more tips. Time Magazine posted The 10 Best Animal Instagram Accounts to Follow in 2019. The numbers are astounding!

It’s nice to know that there are other crazy pet people out there. I do believe that my bulldogs are adorable and I might just try to tap into the pet influencer market.

Here are a couple of my favourite Animals Instagram Stars.

Konsta Punkka is a photographer and travels all over capturing nature at its finest!

An Influencers Reach

I have never written a blog, so when we got the assignment to write one on a social media topic that interests us, I’ll admit I was stumped. So I did what anyone does when they have a question…Google! There were lists of topics, but the first one that caught my eye was The The Evolution of Influencer Marketing which can be found here.

I thought I would pull a line from the blog and comment about it, because it hit me with the realization of what businesses or brands have to contend with now.

“A brand is no longer what we tell the consumer it is – it is what consumers tell each other it is.”

Scott Cook, Intuit CEO

Gone are the days where radio, tv commercials and advertisements told you what was you needed to buy next, what was the next big thing. Now anyone on social media can influence a trend, or selling spree on a product, it’s not just celebrities any more.

An Influencers reach is endless with nearly with almost 4.48 billion people active on the internet worldwide. That’s a lot of eyes and ears. People are more likely to listen to someones review they’ve seen on social media than what a company has to say. We want to know what we are getting, what we are paying for. There are thousands of videos on YouTube of people reviewing products, giving us their opinion. We don’t know them but they sure are influencing my decision to buy a certain product.

I don’t know, maybe my thinking is all over the place, but on my next blog I’m going to share some of my favourite influencers.
