I decided to make a blog dedicated to film and the industry since it’s something I am very passionate about. I am currently in pre-production for my short horror film which will be my directorial debut. When it comes to the genre of horror I’m a big nerd. I love watching documentaries with behind the scenes footage and learning how the film is made. I’ve also always been interested in the special effects aspect from horror films. I’ve had the chance to meet makeup artists that worked on horror films at horror conventions and interviewed some on my YouTube channel. Some of the most well known special effects artist in the field are Tom Savini, Rick Baker and Ve Neill. Besides the horror genre I am always up for watching eighties classics. I am a big fan of John Hughes who has made iconic films such as The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and National Lampoon’s Vacation just to name a few. What I love about John Hughes films so much is that he puts a lot of heart and soul in his movies. He makes universal characters that people love and could relate to. The eighties seemed like a much simpler time and it’s great to relive that time in movies. I love learning about directors, writers and actors. I think it’s important to learn about their work and what goes into making a film. Through this blog I hope to share my knowledge of film and educate you as the reader on things you may not know about.

Streaming Movies & Music
During this time of self quarantine and isolation because of Covid-19 there is lots of home time. What better way to pass time by catching up on TV series, movies and listening to our favourite music even more than before. There are many platforms to stream such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify or YouTube Music to mention a few. These apps compete against each other and offer different features as well as subscription costs.
Service Cost & Subscription Features?
All platforms offer something different at a different price. In my opinion Netflix is the most popular movie and TV show streaming service. Netflix also releases their own original films and TV series. Netflix plans range from $9.99 to $16.99 a month. You can get the basic, standard or premium plan within that cost range. Amazon Prime is $7.99 a month which allows you to stream movies, TV shows and also get FREE shipping next day delivery on Amazon purchases. Amazon Prime also makes their own original movies and TV series. Spotify offers a free version which contains ads and limits your control capability on the app. You also have the option to pay for Spotify premium which is $9.99 a month. By paying per month it allows you to have full access with the app and have more control on what songs as well as artists you want to play. When signing up for Spotify you also a get 3 month free trial. They also have special promotions. For example as of now until June 30th you can get 3 months of listening for only $9.99 which is the service fee for only one month. Spotify also offers thousands of different podcasts to listen to. YouTube Music is also free but limits your app control and offers different package plans. You can sign up for YouTube Premium which includes videos as well as music at $11.99 a month, YouTube Music at $9.99 a month, Student Plan at $4.99 a month, Family Plan up to five users $14.99 a month. You can stream these apps on your smart phone, tablet, smart TV. From streaming on Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify or YouTube Music it gives you recommendations on what to watch or to listen to based on your streaming history. One feature that is popular and useful with Spotify and YouTube Music is that you can download and listen to music offline. You can also have the music playing in the background while using another app or while your phone is locked. With YouTube Music it allows you to switch between listening and watching music videos of the song you are listening to.
Which App Is Better? How To Sign Up?
Everyone has their own personal opinion on what they prefer. You won’t know which one you prefer until you try it. I enjoy all of these streaming apps. I would recommend starting off with Netflix for streaming movies and TV shows. If you would like to stream music I would recommend getting Spotify. If you are new to streaming signing up is pretty easy. You can sign up for Netflix, Amazon Prime, Spotify or YouTube Music by going directly to their website on the computer or installing it on your device from the app store. By providing some basic information and pay method you are good to go. All of these apps offer new members free trials so there is no need to pay for your subscription right away.

Online shopping has been a way of life for the average consumer but more so during this pandemic. During this time of crisis, independent businesses have been struggling to stay alive. Shifting a business to an online platform will help the business owner as well as the consumer during this outbreak. Having an online business will provide a wider range of customers. With today’s modern technology, online shopping is the way to go to buy goods. You can support independent companies on websites such as Etsy, eBay or Amazon just to mention a few.
How To Support Independent Businesses?
If you are a social media user you most likely do online shopping. You can support independent or small businesses by liking or following their company page on social media. If you buy items from online businesses and are satisfied with your order, always make sure to leave them positive feedback. By leaving your rating, other potential buyers will look at the positive reviews before purchasing from them.
Where To Buy?
Etsy, eBay or Amazon are three popular websites where people online shop. Amazon is a trillion dollar company but there are also many independent companies that are marketplace sellers on the website. eBay is a mix of business and personal selling of items. Etsy sells unique, custom, homemade items and art pieces.
What To Buy?
Depending on what your needs, wants and desires are, there is something for everyone through online shopping. If you are into custom art you can discover so many different amazing artists on Etsy. These artists sell things from paintings, sculptures, jewelry, clothing to mention a few. Through eBay you can search for things if you are a collector of memorabilia, antiques, second hand or never used miscellaneous items that you are in need of. eBay has 35 categories and a wide range of selection from sellers all around the world.
How To Buy Online?
Online shopping websites offer different payment methods. You can pay with PayPal, Visa, Mastercard or American Express just to name a few. If you personally know the seller you can always do an e-transfer. Two things that you should keep in mind are shipping costs and import charges. These costs and charges varies depending on where the item is coming from.
I think it’s important to support independent businesses during this pandemic to help people keep working and have an income of some sort. Are you a small or independent business that sells online? How is this pandemic effecting you? Are you an online buyer? Let me know in the comments below!

Can’t Touch This!
Technology has made meeting new people easier then ever before. Just by installing an app on your phone with a quick registration you are connected to a new platform. If you’re an active social media user and single you are most likely to be on dating apps. Tinder and Bumble are two of the biggest online dating platforms that people use. Online dating has shifted gears due to Covid 19. Here’s what you need to know!

Is Online Dating Even Worth Doing During This Pandemic?
The answer in my opinion is YES! If you are to match with your potential partner during quarantine you will have a long time to get to know the person before going on a physical date. Although Bumble’s platform offers more then Tinder they are both great and worth trying out. Bumble is offering and recommending virtual dates. Of course it’s not the same as meeting your date psychically in person but it gives you the chance to connect and chat.
Wondering How You Can Pull Off A Virtual Date?
Bumble has given the users options to video or voice call your match through the app. Bumble has also made a list of recommendations on what to do during virtual dates while in this pandemic. Some suggestions include cooking together, movie night, truth or dare etc… As far as I can tell, being a user of both apps, Tinder hasn’t made any changes to the app during the pandemic but there is talk that changes are to come.
Should You Sign Up For Online Dating?
Get yourself out there and start matching with others. I’m sure you’ll find a lot of potential people with similar interests. If you are at home and staying in quarantine during this pandemic and looking to meet new people then why not sign up? Both Tinder and Bumble are both very similar and easy to use. Bumble offers different modes on the app for those who may be interested. Modes included on the app is Bumble Date, Bumble BFF and Bumble Bizz. The app allows you to go on dates, make friends and network with others in the same work field.
Things You Should Know To Get Started?
Both Tinder and Bumble are free but you do have the option to pay for more access with app features. Make sure to include a good bio about yourself so that it’s easy to start a conversation. Also post some good pictures. Don’t be one of those people that post pictures with your phone in front of your face or only post pictures of you and your group of friends. I’m sure it’s common sense but make sure to be cautious while using these dating apps. Also, don’t be weird, ignore or ghost your match. If you don’t click with your match or are no longer interested in your match you can always unmatch. Exchanging numbers or social media is fine as long as you feel comfortable with the match. Taking the conversation off the app expands the conversation in a more personal direction. Have fun with it. Have you been involved with online dating? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

Celebrities Bring The World Closer Together At Home
For the last couple of months celebrities have been raising funds for charities during this COVID 19 pandemic. We have had televised events such as One World Together At Home & Stronger Together featuring some of the worlds most famous stars. Celebrities have also been using social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to help raise awareness about charities for helping those in need during this outbreak.
If you’re a movie or television watcher you are probably aware that all 2020 film productions have been delayed due to the COVID 19 virus. Since a lot of people are off work and staying quarantined at home during this pandemic you’re most likely to be binge watching your favourite shows or movies on Netflix. One show I highly recommend is the Netflix original series Dead To Me starring Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini. Before Season 2 premiered on May 8th of this year, the cast did a LIVE Facebook table read of the pilot episode to raise money for World Central Kitchen.
Recently, actor Josh Gad has been hosting a new YouTube web series called Reunited Apart. Josh has been reuniting casts from beloved films such as The Goonies (1985) and Back To The Future (1985) to raise money for charities (The Center for Disaster Philanthropy & Project HOPE) during this pandemic. On Reunited Apart you can expect to see interviews from Steven Spielberg, Sean Astin, Corey Feldman, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson and many more. I thought it was amazing to see the cast and crew members be reunited from these iconic movies that generations of people grew up with.
If you aren’t a Twitter user I highly recommend signing up because there are some great quarantine events you won’t want to miss. Twitter is a great way of getting in touch and keeping updated to what celebrities are up to. Ever have a question you’ve been dying to know about one of your favourite movies? During quarantine there have been a lot of Twitter LIVE watch parties where you have the opportunity to view the film, tweet with the celebrities and ask them questions you have about their film. Recently David Gordon Green (Director) and Jamie Lee Curtis (Actress) hosted a Twitter LIVE watch party for the film Halloween (2018). Other cast and crew members such as John Carpenter, Jason Blum, Judy Greer, James Jude Courtney and Nick Castle had also taken part of this event.
Although it’s definitely a very strange time of living during this pandemic I think events such as the LIVE Twitter watch parties that celebrities are taking part of are great fun for everyone. Celebrities have the advantage of drawing attention of a large audience through social media. Platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter can help the world in so many positive ways such as celebrities raising money for good causes.
