Meet Your Blogger
Just wanted to start off by giving everyone reading a little insight into myself! I am a 23-year-old college business student that is looking to actually pursue a career in medicine after completing my diploma program.
Medicine?
What the heck am I doing in business you are probably wondering.
Well, my journey to where I am today began with an undergraduate buffet at Queen’s University originally looking to pursue a career in applied economics. As you can imagine from the sounds of it, I, unfortunately, spent most of my lectures learning to sleep with my eyes open as my professor drew graph after graph for a daily 3-hour marathon. I then continued my undeclared major in almost every subject available, stumbling my way into pre-med. Let’s just say at this point my parents had enough of the buffet and encouraged me to take courses at the local college until I figured out what I really liked. I enrolled in business as it was something that came relatively naturally to me and did not know how to convince my parents that I truly liked pre-med and it was not just another entree. So I decided that I would just work through my business diploma and maybe try testing the career a bit through my employment.
For some context, this all took place during the COVID-19 lockdown so I unfortunately was not encouraged to begin working as an assistant at the hospital. Instead, I applied for a veterinary emergency clinic assistant position and with little to no experience, got the job! I have now been working here for almost 2 years and have been able to clearly determine that I love the medical field and this is truly the place for me. As much as I love cats and dogs, the veterinary scene can be quite heartbreaking and although I know human medicine can be as well, humans don’t have long whiskers and adorable paws like some of my ill patients did. Currently, I am working towards completing my diploma and applying to an undergraduate program in biology next year!
A little bit more about me, 2 years ago I found the love of my life working at the clinic. He is the best thing to ever come into my life and makes every day feel special when he’s around.

I guess I should mention… he is a cat.
Since he is such a big part of my life now I want to introduce you to my favourite thing on earth, Doc. He is one of the 4 cats that belong to my clinic owner and let me tell you, he has been like my shadow ever since I started. He trails a few meters behind me for my whole 12hr shift and never fails to put me in line when I get too affectionate. Until meeting Doc I was exclusively a dog person and cats were mean little creatures I avoided. Although I still love dogs and all animals, I am now primarily a cat person thanks to that little grumpy cat you see above.
Outside of school and work I spent my time working out, hiking, kayaking, playing basketball, reading and learning new random skills. I took this course primarily for the credit needed to graduate but also to learn more about social media applications in business. Currently, the clinic I am working at has asked me to maintain its online presence with the use of Instagram and Facebook. I felt that the timing would be perfect to take this course now as it relates to the skills I need for my employment.
Anyways, that’s all I got really! Not the most interesting person being branded on this forum but I hope you enjoyed this post written by a confused crazy cat lady!
