Post 1 – Tools and Sources

Two of my favourite social media trend listening/monitoring tools:

With so many to choose from and having little experience with tools of this sort, it took a while to decide but, after researching some of the options, these two seemed quite interesting:

Trackur: is known for its quick and easy setup. They provide a complete social media monitoring tool at an affordable price. A free 10 day trial is available, giving you the opportunity to see if this is the right tracking tool for you without having to purchase it. If you don’t like it you can try another monitoring tool until you find one suitable for your needs.

Attached is link to a Trackur utube video advertising how it is simple, fast and affordable.

Twitalyzer: Twitalyzer is seen as an excellent way to monitor the effectiveness of tweeting. It provides valuable information by analyzing your tweeting activity and how much exposure your company is getting. Twitalyzer can be refreshed in real-time if you are looking for up-to-date results. This is very important since, if you are preparing a report with statistics, you want your information to be as up-to-date as possible.

The two best sources of news and updates I found of interest are:

In searching for sources of news and updates, I found the two following sources on twitter.

 Shaw Direct Tweets (miniblog):

This is so interesting. I discovered that you can follow Shaw Direct (who we install satellite television for) on Twitter. There are some very interesting comments and questions from customers. We are relatively new to installing Shaw Direct TV, so it is very useful to have an idea of some of the questions we may expect from our existing or potential customers.

 Bruce Garrioch Twitter (miniblog):

Being huge fans of the Ottawa Senators, it is really interesting to get up to the second information on the Senators by following Bruce Garrioch on Twitter. He is a sports commentator that I can follow on my computer or on my cell phone. Garrioch follows the Senators and other people who are very knowledgeable about what the Senators are up to. He is an excellent reliable source of current information. Follow Bruce on Twitter: https://twitter.com/SunGarrioch.
