Since focusing on the new evolving field of social media here are a list of unexpected facts I have found in the field of online marketing and social media:

  1. The 55-64 year age bracket is the fastest growing demographic on twitter, therefore social media is not just for teenagers
  2. 76% of marketers think they know what their consumer wants even though out of the 76%, 34% of them have actually asked those buyers
  3. Are you attached to your smartphone? Well here are some fun facts about smartphone users, 25% of smartphone owners aged 18-44 can’t remember the last time their phone wasn’t close to them, while 79% keep their smartphone next to them all but two hours in a day.
  4. LinkedIn, who knew but every second there are two new members that join
  5. How many times do you think the Facebook like button is used? Take a guess! Bet you didn’t guess it’s served 5 billion times per day
  6. 79% of women are on Pinterest, 67% of men use Google+
  7. YouTube is now the worlds second largest site when it comes to social media
  8. Want to get more website traffic? Blogging will help you out since more than 23% of marketers are now investing in blogging and social media
  9. Thus far more than 16 billion photos have been uploaded to Instagram, everyday there are at least 45 million photos being uploaded.
  10.  The most fun fact of them all! Cheesy garlic bread, I bet you wouldn’t guess this one but it is the more repined pin on Pinterest

COM0015- Post 3: Professional Networking now and in the future

Strategy, strategy, strategy. Decision-making and action planning is key when trying to develop a professional networking plan. Not just for now, but for the future. I know personally online networking for me has been difficult. Recently I have only had an in person networking strategy, which has worked well in advancing in my career. Here are a list of things I would like to share that have helped me out!professional networking

  1. Build your networking
  2. Attend different events
  3. Stay strong
  4. Don’t be afraid of hearing the word no
  5. Always be kind
  6. Being genuine is noticed and appreciated
  7. Giving
  8. Don’t be selfish
  9. Grow your acquaintances
  10. Communication
  11. Don’t lose touch with people in your database
  12. Simplicity
  13. Don’t lose focus on yourself

I have recently accepted a new job offer and am very thankful because I am in customer service and get to talk to lots of people and network at work. You never know when something else will come up!

Right now I feel like I will keep my strategy to more personal networking, and when that starts to decline I will advance into online networking. I don’t want to change what is going good for me. Do what is best for you and never give up, there will always be opportunity!

Post 2 – Strong & Weak Organizations

A company with a strong social media presence that has an impressive strategy is Dove. Weather they are running their campaign for real beauty or just simply getting a new product out there they know how to do it right. They often run commercials, share videos and encourage woman to feel good about themselves.

On the other side of things I think if Lululemon were more involved in social media they would have the capability to increase their sales even more. You never see any commercials or announcements of their events they are having. Weather it is yoga on the hill or something else they are holding. You have to search and see what times and where it is, and by that time you may have missed it. I feel like they should run more ads. I think it is important to love who you are and stay as healthy as you can be to live a happy and fun life.

COM0015 Post #1- Tool and Sources

Facebook… What is facebook? Funny right, if you were to ask anyone that question they would give you some sort of facial expression and probably laugh. Now a day in the hype of social media a lot of people get the privilege of staying connected to acquaintances, customers, family, friends and events around the world.

With facebook being one of my favorite social media sites, with just one click of a button you have the ability to make suggestions, comments, tell personal experiences and give feedbacks. It is important for me in particular to make an effort to have it available to me on my phone. Going on facebook whether from on your phone, tablet, or computer as part of your daily routine is a great start. Staying connected is time well spent especially if you are trying to expand your business. While doing that it makes it easier to tailor to your customers wants and needs, to grow your clientele/business and have a positive name in the community.

Runner up on my social media list would have to be twitter. Why you ask? Twitter is a great way to brand and quickly get your self out there. With it having less privacy than facebook it makes it easier for you to advertise your company, product, rebates, monthly specials etc.  Being capable to search by name, hashtag or simply just seeing what is trending at that time. By seeing what is trending at a certain time makes twitter one of the easier social media sites to see what is going on in the world.

Facebook and twitter are not only there to talk to people, it is a great source to receive news updates and what is trending around the world. I enjoy being able to get news updates just by searching one of these social media sites because it is more efficient to my life style. I don’t always have time to turn the television on to sit and watch the news where I can just look it up on my phone or see it in my newsfeed while it being updated live, you wont have to worry about missing a thing!
