COM0015- Post 3: Professional Networking now and in the future

Strategy, strategy, strategy. Decision-making and action planning is key when trying to develop a professional networking plan. Not just for now, but for the future. I know personally online networking for me has been difficult. Recently I have only had an in person networking strategy, which has worked well in advancing in my career. Here are a list of things I would like to share that have helped me out!professional networking

  1. Build your networking
  2. Attend different events
  3. Stay strong
  4. Don’t be afraid of hearing the word no
  5. Always be kind
  6. Being genuine is noticed and appreciated
  7. Giving
  8. Don’t be selfish
  9. Grow your acquaintances
  10. Communication
  11. Don’t lose touch with people in your database
  12. Simplicity
  13. Don’t lose focus on yourself

I have recently accepted a new job offer and am very thankful because I am in customer service and get to talk to lots of people and network at work. You never know when something else will come up!

Right now I feel like I will keep my strategy to more personal networking, and when that starts to decline I will advance into online networking. I don’t want to change what is going good for me. Do what is best for you and never give up, there will always be opportunity!

  1. Continuing to do what works is always a great idea. Small challenge would be to build on the in person networking by committing to connecting with people you meet in person online within a week of meeting them, whether that be on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook or some other way. Takes you into the world of online networking without jumping into the deep end! 🙂
